Student Summit for Sustainability 2009

“The Realistic Side of the World – Sustainable Development and the Role of Economic and Political Institutions”

Zurich (ETH)/ Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, January 25to February 2009

The Summit took place in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH, it happened in collaboration with the AGS Annual Meeting. The AGS the Alliance for Global Sustainability is an alliance between MIT (US), Chalmers Univeristy (Sweden), University of Tokyo and The Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology.
This summit was organized by Project 21 and had a total of 88 participants from 29 countries around the world took part in the summit, not to mention the presence of numerous experts and academics throughout the conference.
The theme of the summit was
• Geopolitics
• Global Finance
• Non-Monetary Incentives

“Societies of Tomorrow”

This summit was hosted by University of Regina and brought together over 150 students from over 37 different countries to engage in discussions on “Societies of Tomorrow”.

The focus topics for S3.2008 was:

• Urban Infrastructure

• Energy and Environment

• Economic and Social Development

“Taking Action for Global Sustainability”

Tokyo –Japan, March 5 to-9 March 2007


The Student Summit for Sustainability was held in Tokyo, Japan hosted by the Alliance for

Global Sustainability, the University of Tokyo and Japanese Students Community. The

theme of the Student Summit was: “Taking Action for Global Sustainability.”

This summit was 150 participants from 35 countries and provided a chance to recognize

the importance of “linking,” in order to achieve sustainability.
